Reading 25 Reflection

Honestly, fifteen weeks ago, my reading skills were very inaccurate . Learning all the steps from fifteen weeks ago have incredibly changed my thoughts and attitude about reading. I understand what I read clearly, more percisely, and more fluently. However I still have to read an article, or story a few times if I'm interested in the story that I'm reading. Overall, reading 25 has inhanced the abilities that I had already had in stored . I recommend that reading 25 will definitely feed your brain the right conponents for better reading , and understanding whatever it is you are lacking in within the reading category.

Arguement

Why does the Government allow firearms to be in our society? Firearms should be prohibited throughout all communities in America. A single firearm has enough power to kill any human being or any other leaving creature. Overall, firearms were designed to existinct the living. I feel that guns are destroying our communities, from the police to the gangs who carry these firearms are a serious threat to mankind . The death rate in society are increasing dramatically each year , due to gang violence and police brutality. The Government needs to eliminate this devastating destruction of firearms in America's society . Otherwise, the firearms will rule over the societies in America, in addition the death and violence rate will continue to increase. The power of any firearm can damage your health physically, psychologically, and it can also leads to death. My opinion is that only the U.S. Military should keep all the firearms due to protecting the country. However, if firearms are eliminated out of America's society , the violence and death rate will decrease consistently.

The Bystander Effect

My first time experiencing the bystander effect was when I was in the third grade, while my brother was in the fifth grade. I was always a nerdy kind of kid in school while my brother had all the friends. I never understood why I could never have friends to hang with, play with, or even socialize with. He would have multiple friends like if he was a celebrity at school or something. So one day I called myself hanging out with my brother and his   peers so I can fit in with the popular cool kids. For the first two weeks all the fifth graders showed me kindness and respect because of my brother's popularity. I was fitting in well with the fifth graders too, they all loved wrestling, pokemon, and video games just like me so we all communicated well. However, a month later my brother's behavior was changing towards me. When we would be at home he would be my best friend, bed ut when we be at school he would not speak to me at all. As days went by I learned the reason why my brother's behavior had changed. It was because I took his spotlight of popularity. His friends would always come play kickball or socialize with me. Although, they barely spoke to him like they normally would. One day when my mom both of us up from school he had an outburst in the car and said that he hated being school because I stole his friends and that he wanted me to hang out with kids my age. After he spoke, my mom lectured us all the way home about how blood is thicker than water. Basically never let nobody outside our family come between us. My brother and I understood clearly and to this very day we've grown even more closer than we was a few years back.

Self-Regulated Behaviors

The main problem I had in middle to up until I graduated from high school was how to control my physical environment. I was always one of them students who would always turn homework or classwork in late. However, I was easily distracted and still is . If I was doing homework at home. I would hear too much activity outside of my room. Then eventually I would join the activity. Rather it was playing the video game, going outside to play, texting, holding unimportant conversations with people , or playing basketball. When I was one years away from graduating high school, I would spend at least two hours in the library doing extra credit, studying, doing assigned homework, or reading. Doing that everyday brought my english grade from an F to a B- and my spanish class from a D- to a C+. When I saw the difference in my grades. I learned that my downfall was trying to do homework or study while I was in a rowdy area knowing I am easily distracted. Now til this day I still use the same tactic. Hopefully, it helps me pass my classes.

My Reading History

In kindergarten, I remember reading five different kindergarten leveled books to my teacher and my mom. I read frequent at an early age. Throughout elementary, I've had great fluent skills . When I arrived in middle school . I never really read any books, because from sixth to eighth grade all my English teachers either read the stories to us, or we had to read them as a class paragraph by paragraph. Doing that throughout middle school it became a hugh downfall when I started high school. However, in high school I really had to read books. Every summer throughout all my four years I've had to read a chapter book according to my grade level and the name of the book would be mailed to all the student's homes one month and two weeks early. I remember going to get each book for each summer I would always read the book everyday, until I was finish reading the entire book. However, the first Friday of school in all students english class we all had a test on what we had to read during the summer . I was so blank-minded that I started to guess on certain answers . Now That I have graduated from high school I have learned that I have to improve my reading skills for college. So, when I had registered for my college classes , I ran across reading 25 improve reading for college courses I knew that I would achieve my goal. Hopefully in life, I can be a better reader than I am today.
